The clutch platen is an important structure on the clutch, and its function plays an important role in the safety of the car. The clutch platen is one of the most important components in the clutch assembly, and transmits and shuts off the power transmission of the engine through the linkage mechanism according to the driver’s wishes. And cooperate with the clutch plate to make the vehicle start smoothly, shift smoothly and prevent engine overload.

Clutch pressure plate

Clutch pressure plate brakes are widely used as spring-loaded friction clutches (referred to as friction clutches). The torque generated by the engine is transmitted to the driven plate by the friction between the flywheel and the pressure plate and the contact surface of the driven plate. When the driver steps on the clutch pedal, the transmission of the mechanism causes the large end of the diaphragm spring to drive the pressure plate to move backward, and the driven portion is separated from the active portion.

There are friction plates on the clutch platen, just like the brake pads on the wheels. They are made of asbestos and copper wire which are very wear-resistant. The friction plates of the platen also have the minimum thickness allowed. After the mileage is long, the platen is on the platen. The friction plates should also be replaced. The original friction plate replacement can be bought and replaced by spare parts. Now it is all about buying the pressure plate that has been installed with the friction plate. You don’t have to change the friction plate yourself. You can change the clutch pressure plate directly. In order to reduce the loss of the clutch plate, there is a correct method of using the clutch pedal. Just don’t step on the clutch pedal. Thus, the clutch disc is in a semi-clutch state, that is, the frisbee and the pressure plate are in a frictional state. If the clutch pedal is fully depressed, the flywheel and clutch platen are completely cut open without friction between the two. If the clutch pedal is fully raised, the flywheel and clutch platen are fully integrated, although there is friction, but there is essentially no friction. Therefore, the clutch pedal cannot be stepped on halfway.

Then how to repair the clutch platen? The maintenance methods and requirements for the clutch platen are as follows:

1) The flatness error of the clutch platen working face should be no more than 0.12mm, and the groove depth should be no more than 0.50mm. When it is too deep, it should be ground on the surface grinder, but the dressing thickness should be no more than 1mm. If the thickness of the dressing has been reached, there are still a small number of flat surfaces that are not flattened. As long as the unpolished area is not more than 10% and the distribution is uniform, it can be used continuously.

2) Balance test should be carried out after pressure plate grinding, and the unbalance error should be no more than 50g.cm. If there is too much tolerance, the drilling method can be used to drill holes in the appropriate part of the pressure plate to make the balance meet the requirements.

3) The clearance between the drive pin hole of the medium pressure plate using the two-plate clutch and the drive pin should be no more than 1mm, and the drive pin can be replaced by 90°. Otherwise it should be repaired or replaced.

4) If the pressure plate has severe aging and cracking, and the depth of the wear groove is greater than 0.50mm, it should be replaced with new parts.
